We always have a pallet (soft folded up blanket) for her on the floor in the living room. She plays, watches her Baby Einstein DVD's, wiggles, sucks on her thumb, and once in a while naps there. We used to be able to walk out of the room and when we came back, she was still in the same place. Now, within minutes, she is halfway across the room on the carpet or worse: the wood floor. I feel terrible when she rolls around on the hard floor, she on the other hand seems to be enjoying herself.
Here she is, after a couple of rolls. She found herself a comfy spot and stayed there, snacking on her fingers, for quite some time.
This made me see how much we do for ourselves, as parents, in the name of our children. Harper couldn't care less if her blankets are colorful, washed in baby detergent, fluffed, and placed in the safest spot in the house. She would be just as content rollin around in the back yard for crying out loud! But it sure makes me feel better to have all those things.
