Trimming the Tree

At our house, one of our traditions is to buy one another ornaments each year and give them to each other before Christmas. This year, not only did Kevin & I buy each other ornaments, we both bought an ornament for Harper. Neither of us knew what the other one bought for Harper until tonight.

So here Harper is, opening her very first Christmas presents!

And here are all the new additions to our tree!

First, this was my ornament from Kevin. Which was hilarious, not that it isn't cute, it's a teeny tiny coffee cup, it is very cute! It was just totally random. But it made me laugh, because he just kept saying "But you love coffee". Then he told me to go see if it fit under the coffee maker. Where I found another wrapped box. He's so sneaky =)

My real ornament was this little guy.

You may think this pickle is random as well, but it is definitely not! Here's the story...At work, we have been swapping Christmas traditions just to get new ideas. And since we have started our little family, I am just soaking up lots of new ideas. One of the things that I thought was cute was the 'Pickle Present' tradition. I heard about a pickle ornament that you hide in the tree. The first person to find the pickle gets that year's 'pickle present', no matter when they find it. Fun, right? Well, here's our little pickle. I wonder which kid will find it first next year: Harper or Kevin?

Kevin's ornament this year is the Mighty Thor

Harper's ornament from her Daddy is called the MistleToad. She loves the Crazy Frog video on YouTube; it was one of the first things she danced and clapped to. 

And this little toad looks exactly like her friend, Crazy Frog. She loved it!

And her ornament from Mama is a little wooden Noah's ark. 

We had lots of fun! And the tree looks even better!

A lady of the arts

Harper took her first visit to Philbrook today. 

Her great grammy had artwork on display in the Festival of Trees, so we went to check it out. 

She was quite the little trooper.

Each artist also had to enter a tree. Here is Grammy's tree...and it sold!

Harper is not too sure about some of the artwork.

These crazy little things were scattered around the show and Harper enjoyed them quite a bit.

First Grade Happenings

We graphed our results.

Since it was Gingerbread week, each kiddo made a jersey and helmet for a gingerbread man and placed it on the graph.

Happy "Month"day Harper!

Harper is 9 months old today!

We had her 9 month appointment this afternoon. She weighs 18.2 lbs and is 28.6 inches tall. 

She got the 'go-ahead' to eat just about anything (within the under one year rules) from the Doc.

And unfortunately, she had another (or the same) ear infection. More antibiotics and praying they work this time. 

She can crawl, stand, wave, clap, dance, climb anything within her reach, feed herself, and make her mama and dad do just about anything. 

My favorite is when she discovers there is a sticker on her shirt.

Yum Yum

I got to looking at our recent pictures, and it seems that all of them are of Harper in her highchair. I started thinking "What is our deal with Harper eating?". Well I figured it out....it is the only time that she is sitting still. Baby girl loves to eat and in the highchair, she can't go anywhere. At any other time, she is constantly moving. 

I wanted to let you believe that she made this mess herself (because she is incredibly messy) but I just couldn't. This is all Kevin's handiwork.

Ooh La La

This year, my parents were asked to be in the Skiatook Parade of Homes. So fancy =)

The house looked...AMAZING!

There are a lot of pictures here, but everything looked so nice and my mom worked so hard, I have to brag on her. 

Renaye, my mom's talented friend who owns Stems flowers, contributed some gorgeous arrangements. 

I don't know if my mom will agree (because she did all the work), but I think it was well worth it.
