Trimming the Tree

Harper is a good helper when it comes to decorating the Christmas tree. She lays the ornaments on the branches, she hasn't figured out the hooks & loops yet. 

Here is some of her handiwork:

Now that the tree is decorated, she likes to look at each one and tell them "hi". She especially loves all the 'Sherpa' {golden retriever} ornaments. All of the ornaments near the bottom are ones that she recognizes and likes. And of course, not breakable. Anything fragile, is securely attached and out of reach. However, we have two glass Mickey ornaments out of her reach and that's just cruel! 

We're ready for the holidays! We think this will be a really fun Christmas with Harper.

Harper, Kevin's parents & I did not make the cut. I guess we get no respect for finishing last in the a one mile fun run. ;)

For Colby

Kevin's fellow firefighter, Arami, and her husband hosted a 5k & crossfit challenge yesterday. The event was amazing and had been created to support finding a cure for Angelman's Syndrome, which their son Colby had been diagnosed with. Such a great day for everyone and a really special way to honor their little boy. I was glad that Kevin got to help out and Harper had a blast! 

Kevin is offering an IV bag to his Chief before he tackles the one mile fun run...

Firefighters have no filter. 

Kevin was busy most of the morning, but thankfully we got to see him quite a bit.

Our very own Miss Julie! Look at that girl go! Solomon & his Aunt Carrie were cheering her to the finish. Julie placed 1st in her age group and 2nd out of all females in something like 23 measly minutes. She made it look easy and made the rest of us look like slobs. 

Seriously, what am I doing with my life?

Harper was booking it during her race too. She, however, finished last in ALL age groups. 

Solomon {who was a fireman for Halloween} is about to get his 2nd firetruck tour. The last one scared the poor guy to death! Luckily this one was much less scary for him. 

Watch the progression of Harper's hug. All Sol wants is to check out the tools and all Harper wants is to give him some sugar. 

And she was so excited to see Miss Julie. She just kept looking into her face saying "Hi Juie, Hi Juie"

That boy is precious!

Harper was willing to hold any tool, open any compartment, and try on any gear. 

These two little buddies really enjoyed their time together. 

One of the coolest parts of the day was the firetruck pull. Kevin "rode" in the truck while it was being pulled. And the truck has a loud speaker, therefore he was quite the comedian.  

Four {huge} Owasso firefighters. I think this is the winning team.

More firefighters....shout out to Firefighter Alisha. Look at that leg muscle, I give her major props! 

I can't imagine how tough that was. Each team looked exhausted. I was impressed. 

Maybe next year, Kevin, Harper, Sherpa & I can enter. 

Glad we got to be a part of such a fun day!

Moo Moo Harper

Harper was a cow for Halloween. She loved wearing her "moo moo hat" and standing in front of the mirror. Our actual Halloween was somewhat of a nightmare though. Basically the night ended {not long after it began} with Harper in a diaper & a hat and her costume covered in poop, stuffed into a plastic bag in the very back of the car. 

But luckily, clothes (even homemade & hot glued ones) wash. So on November 1st, we got her back in that costume and finally took some poop-free pictures. 

What better place to take pictures of a cow costume than a pasture with actual cows!

Looking at cows that were a little too close for comfort. 

Okay, maybe the cow idea was not my best. There is a "pet" cow at my parents that thinks he needs to be beside you at all times. Harper disagrees with him. She put the death grip on Nana until we were safe on the other side of the fence.

Just kidding! Happy Cow!

Halloween didn't quite go as planned, but the good thing is: Harper has no idea! She thought that saying "knock knock treat" was pretty fun. She also enjoyed holding her candy bag, even though she has no idea that anyone put anything into the bag. And I'd say that she's still a pretty cute cow, even one day late.
