Aspiring photographer
Kevin has become the resident photographer in the house. He usually just clicks continuously for 15 straight minutes. He is the reason we have about 3000 pictures of Harper.
Here are some shots from his latest photo shoot:

I'm not taking my hands out of my mouth for you.
Oh alright! I guess I will.
Whatcha storing in those cheeks, little one?
And they're back in!

Productive Saturday
Harper and I have accomplished a lot today, Harper especially:
She sat in her bumbo chair.
Oh, what a day! With all of this activity, let's hope she sleeps well tonight.

She sat in her bumbo chair.
And liked it.
She did tummy-time.
*Parents, if your child hates tummy time, but is completely infatuated with herself: try a mirror. Somehow it makes being on her belly tolerable.
She shook her rattles.
Lots of rattles. Wrist rattles, ankle rattles, feet rattles; she even held a rattle. We love to rattle!
Oh, what a day! With all of this activity, let's hope she sleeps well tonight.

Outdoor Girl
Harper loves to be outside and she is really happy with her daddy right now. See, tomorrow is our 4th wedding anniversary and he bought me a three-seat cushion swing since we spend so much time outside with Harper.
Well she loves it! She wiggles and sighs like crazy when the breeze blows our way :)

Smitten
Harper loves her cousin Jared!
At Cousin Jordan's high school graduation last weekend, I spent the first half of the ceremony walking Harper around. We walked up and down the stairs, around the lobby, and behind the seats, all in an effort to keep her happy. She would not let me sit down for a second! But after my sandals started digging into my feet and I got tired of men asking this poor lady with her baby if she needed a seat, I thought I would give sitting down one more try.
The instance I parked my booty on the chair, the crying began. She was not in the mood to sit still. But Jared asked if he could hold her. In my mind, I was thinking, "Not gonna work buddy. You'll pass her back in no time!". But he was willing, so we passed her down to him. And this is the result:
Are you kidding me!?! The blisters on my feet wish they knew this information an hour before! She seriously loves him.
And even though, as a tough teenage boy, he might not admit it, we're pretty sure that he's a little smitten as well.

Happy MONTHday Harper!
Harper is 3 months old today! Oh, how the time flies.
During our photo shoot, Harper didn't feel like smiling. But she sure felt like putting her hands in her mouth and covering up her shirt. Lots of outtakes today!
In her 3rd month, she has discovered her hands (and loves them), she has also discovered her feet (and is not quite sure about them). She loves looking at herself in the mirror; and actually on some really fussing days, looking at herself is the only thing that she likes to do. Which, we realize could be a huge problem when she becomes a teenager. She is starting to roll over; she can get all the way up on her side, she just hasn't made the full roll yet. She talks to herself in the car and in bed at night. She grabbed and held onto a toy for the first time this week. She's just moving right along!

Pool Time
Harper went swimming for the first time last weekend. She didn't love it, but she didn't hate it either. We think she was just trying to figure out all the new sensations. We tried it again today and she seemed to enjoy it more. It's a lot to get used to for a little one like her!
Awaiting pool time. Making sure we have shade: check, video camera: check, regular camera: check, water is 83 degrees or higher: check. Time to swim!
She spent most of her time staring at her feet.
"Are those mine?"
Ahh, safe and snug in mama's arms....

Going to the chapel...
My friend Krista is getting married in a month. Yay! Congratulations!
We threw her a shower after work last week and here are a few of our decorations. Please ignore the library books.
"marriage advice wreath"
Centerpieces
Congrats Krista & John!
Hopefully, your best years are yet to come!

Future Cowgirl
Little Harper chose to wear her OSU duds today. She's been thinking about her future lately...
Shhh, don't tell daddy, but she wants to play basketball one day. Notice her shorts...
(Daddy wants her to play golf or barrel-race; he doesn't like basketball)
Pretty Blue Eyes
I caught her singing "Ride, ride, ride, ride, Ride 'em coboys, to victory!"
She keeps us laughing!

Missin' my girl
Kevin knows how hard it has been on me to be back at work. I've missed Harper like crazy! No matter how good work is, it's still difficult to be away from her.
So even though he is at work today, he dug in the archives of his phone and sent me a picture that he knew would cheer me up. He's a great daddy AND hubby!
Doesn't it cheer you up too?

Sleepy girl
Harper has slept through the night 3 times this week. We consider "sleeping through the night" to be from bedtime (8:00pm) to anything after 5:00 am.
Two days in a row this weekend; yesterday until 5:45 and today until 6:30.
Way to go Harper!
*Amendment: Harper has now (5-24-2011) moved her count up to 4 days in a row. She has slept through the night, every night from Friday to Tuesday.

On the move
Harper has always been a wiggly baby. She's been a squirmer since the day we brought her home.
But lately, she has taken it to a whole new level. Her legs are moving constantly. She kicks during all waking hours. It is so cute! We just love watching her reach new stages, no matter how simple they are.
The only problem is that her legs are a blur in most of her pictures. See?
So we usually end up cropping her legs out of pictures:
*please don't pay attention to the fact that her socks don't match her shirt, nor does she have pants on. It's the weekend, we can get away with stuff like that.

She makes house calls...
Last week, Harper went to visit her Great Grandma and Grandpa Jenkins in Plano. We had a great time just hanging out, doing a little shopping, eating really good food, etc.
We could be wrong, but we're pretty sure that Harper made Great G'ma and G'pa very happy.

Go ahead Grandma, admire me, I don't mind.
Grandpa thinks I'm cute too!
The ladies just relaxing while Grandpa makes dinner.
She loved her cousin Justin
Like, REALLY, loved him.
Kevin and I always enjoy the time we spend in Dallas, and we're glad that Harper enjoyed her time as well. And I am sure that Grandma Jackie would like me to mention that the first time that Harper slept through the night was at her house. Not that she's a bragger or anything =)
But I don't wanna go home!!

Separation Anxiety
Today was my first day back at work. I was not quite what we would call "excited" about it. However, it was a great day. I was glad to see all of my friends and the kids actually behaved pretty well. (cross our fingers that it lasts)
Harper also had a great day. To start it off, she slept through the night again last night. I actually had to wake her up this morning to feed her. She spent the day with my mom and dad and they say that she was great. She took a 2 and half hour nap this morning and took her bottle (which she isn't used to) well. She also visited her daddy at the fire station this afternoon. She was content to sit on his lap and listen to her 'uncles' tell fire stories.
My dad had one of his famous "encouragement talks" (aka lectures) with her. See, she hasn't had many dirty diapers this week. Like ONE in the past 48 hours. She usually has about 4 per day. This really concerned him. So he proceeded to give her a talk about the importance of pooping and why she needed to so badly. Apparently, it worked. Because at about 6:00pm this evening, steam was rising from her diaper.
Recently, she discovered her hands. She will sometimes look at them as they're moving and she makes a face like "Am I doing that?". Today, it seems that she discovered her tongue also. It's been moving all around all day. She wiggles it in her mouth and sticks it out, she licks her lips and tries to imitate you if you stick your tongue out at her. It's pretty entertaining!
Although we both had a good day, I am thankful that it's just a few days until summer! I missed her!

Moose
Harper finally met her favorite animal this week. The Moose!
He was a lot bigger than the moose in her room!

Change of plans...
Well, we aren't laying pool side here in Texas. It's quite overcast :(
So other than soak up some sun, what do Texans do best?
SHOP!!
Harper hopes to buy some new hair bows today and she can't wait to look at the animals at Cabela's.

It Happened!
Ladies and Gentlemen, (drum roll please) if you're ready for the news of a lifetime, listen up:
Harper Belle Lawson slept through the night!
All 9 weeks and 1 day, 12 pounds and 23.5 inches of her, slept peacfully from 7:30 pm to 6:30 am!
And her mom and dad couldn't be more proud of her.

Well Visit
Harper had her 2 month appointment today.
She had gained almost three pounds and grew 2 and a half inches. She weighs 12 pounds and is 23.5 inches. Her length is in the 87th percentile. She's no shorty! And just a quick fact: her diaper weighs 0.3 pounds.
She also had her first three shots. Wow! She did NOT like those! However, our nurse was amazingly fast. She gave three shots in less than 10 seconds; no lie!
We have to start giving her multi-vitamin drops every day now. They are cherry flavored, which makes no sense to me because she's never had flavors so why would she want cherry flavored? Weird.
Her doctor was impressed with her sleep schedule (as are we). He said that she's doing really well in that area.
All in all, she was a good girl and got a good report.

Are we there yet
Today, Harper is leaving the state for the first time. We are going to Dallas to visit Kevin's grandparents.
She plans to spend the next few days laying pool side. (And mom and dad plan to join her)
