You're making me angry...

*Okay, I have had some negative feedback about this post. So let me clarify: When Harper was younger and threw major crying fits, Kevin and I would call her 'Baby Hulk'. It used to be our way of making light of a situation in which we had no idea what to do. So when I saw this picture, I had to laugh. I don't think my baby is a monster, nor do I give my daughter random super hero nicknames.

You won't like her when she's angry.

Introducing...Harper as Baby Hulk

See what I mean?

Baby Blues

We all know that Harper looks just like her Daddy. And if you didn't know that, hang out with her for a while; people remind her all the time. Kevin even jokes that she may not be my child. (However, because she looks nothing like me that means that she has been fortunate enough not to inherit my nose either)  But she did inherit my eyes. Well, actually no she didn't. She got the "Cooley-blues". They apparently skipped me, mine are brown. But the Cooley-blues trace back all the way to my great Aunt Opal.

I couldn't be happier that she looks like her daddy. But you can't wish for eyes prettier than these:

If Mama ain't happy.....

And let me tell you, I am NOT happy.

This morning, I was fast forwarding through the Today's show (waiting for the Wills & Kate story to air) when I came across the most disturbing news. No, it wasn't the 16 pound newborn from Texas (although it made my belly hurt just to think about it). It was the story about David & Victoria Beckham's baby girl.

I knew they were pregnant and having a little girl. What I did not know is that they named her Harper!

And since our culture loves to imitate celebrities, now there's a good chance there is going to be a flourish of Harper's born in the next few years. We were happy that Harper's name had some originality to it and I'm afraid of what the Beckham's may have done to us!

I immediately called my mom to give her an earful about this. When she told my dad, he said "Well, the Beckham's must have read Cara's blog." Which made me laugh, a lot.

So in the future, if you meet a girl named Harper who was born after July 2011, you can count on the fact that her name (in a round about way) came from my blog.

Red, White & Baby

Harper was very patriotic for the 4th. She had multiple red, white, and blue outfits, but this one is my favorite.

In no hurry

Harper would like to say that her and her Great Grandpa Lawson are quite comfy and they would like for you to let them be.

She has a full belly, a big tv to watch, and comfy arms to hold her. She doesn't need to go anywhere.

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin....

SHE DID IT!!!

Harper rolled over yesterday! She popped that thumb in her mouth, which brought her arm up by her head, wiggled that booty, and over she went. Hannah & I screamed so much that we thought we might have scared her away from rolling, but sure enough she did it 4 more times.

almost there

she sees the goal in sight

and she's over

Hey, how did I end up looking this way?

Hannah was so glad to share in Harper's first roll, that we made a cameo in her facebook status. We feel so honored =)

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I got rice in my tummy

Harper is four months old and she gets to eat! We started with rice cereal and hoped that she would at least tolerate it. Instead, she LOVEd it!

It was messy, it was cute, we all had a great time.

Daddy givin' it a go. Harper's giving me the "Mamarazzi, get outta my face" look.

It's only good if you get it all over your face.

The box was as much fun as the meal.

Hey Dad! This is good stuff!

We were really impressed with how well she did. Hopefully she continues to do well and we can move up to vegetables in a few weeks.

Two girls: happy & ready for sleep.

Harper had her 4 month well visit this week.

She weighed 14 pounds, 9 ounces. And she was 25.5 inches long. She is still in the 80th percentile for weight and she has moved up to the 88th percentile for height. She finally has a semi-normal sized head; she moved from the 42nd percentile to the 62nd percentile.

She will get to start eating baby cereal now. Once we master that, we will start vegetables and then fruits. She had her second round of immunizations; which none of us enjoyed. And she wiggled all over the exam table, making a travesty of the protective paper. We think she liked the crinkle sound it made.

She has met all of her milestones and is on the right track. At-a-girl!

Rollin with my homies

Harper wants to roll over so badly. In order to tempt her to roll, we place her favorite things in a position that she has to roll over in order to get to them. By her favorite things, I mean: colorful toys and her daddy.

Everything but her shoulders have made it over.

Oh well, she might as well take a break and suck her thumb.

She's so close. It could be any day now!

Happy "Month"day

Harper is 3 forms of happy to be 4 months old!

Sigh of relief

Harper has missed her Daddy over the past few days.

Her Daddy informed me that once he got home, I could forget about holding her for a few days. =)

They seem pretty content watching The Price is Right, don't they?

On the road again

This past weekend, Harper & I headed to Illinois for Kevin's family reunion. Kevin had to work. We had lots of fun meeting and playing with cousins.

The trip added 2 states to Harper's "state-visiting-count". 4 states in 4 months; where should we go for month 5?

Sleepy Traveler

She likes to cuddle with something soft when she sucks her thumb. Her lamb is a new favorite.

You can see our destination, Alton, IL in the background.

Freedom tastes quite yummy

I got a little bit cheesy with my 4th of July treats this year.

Too hot for a campfire? S'mores on a stick should solve the problem!

*This post is basically for Heather. She appreciates crafty-ness.

From one patriotic family to another: Happy 4th of July!

Every year, my mom buys our entire family the Old Navy 4th of July shirt. Every year, we wear them faithfully. This year, someone finally had the bright idea to take a family picture. We should of known what we would have to go through to get a good shot:

Well, you can't say that we don't have fun.

I must give credit to our photographer, Anna; she showed much talent and patience. Second, you can click on the photo to enlarge it; for some reason, photos are a little blurry on the blog. Technology!
